A continuación encontrarás información sobre las becas y ayudas que se pueden solicitar en la FIB. Es imprescindible haber solicitado la admisión en el máster que corresponda para optar a cualquiera de ellas.

Becas

In memoriam of Prof. Nacho Navarro, the Department of Computer Architecture will award 2 grants for FIB graduates that enroll in the MIRI master in the Computer Networks and Distributed Systems or High Performance Computing specialities.

Amount of grants

2 grants for the cost of 50% of the registration fees (approx. 1500€).

DAC

FIB Visiona-FIB is willing to offer five grants (first-year or second year) for a master’s degree at FIB (MIRI, MAI, MEI). Preference will be given to students with economic needs who have already requested a MEC grant (but they have not been granted with it), and that have been graduated at the Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona.

  1. Applicants must be graduates or students of bachelor degree of the FIB at the moment of application.
  2. They must enroll in all the credits according to the potential of the selected master and semestre in the 2019-2020 academic year.
  3. Applicants must request admission to a FIB master program (deadline July 5)

Requirements for applicants of second-year grants

  1. Applicants must have completed the first year of a master’s degree at FIB (MIRI, MAI or MEI) during the 2018-2019 academic year.
  2. They must enroll in all the credits according to the potential of the selected master and semester in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Amount of grants

1 grant of 3000 Euros for the course 2019-2020 (paid half in each semester of the academic year)

3 grants of 1500 Euros for the course 2019-2020 (paid half in each semester of the academic year)

Requirements for applicants

  1. Obtener o estar en disposición de obtener la titulación de Grado en Ingeniería Informática (GEI) en el momento de realizar la solicitud, o bien haber iniciado los estudios de Máster en el curso 2018/2019.
  2. Estar inscrito o inscrita para estudiar un máster impartido en la FIB a tiempo completo (30 ECTS por semestre) en el curso 2019/2020, o bien haber estado matriculado o matriculada en un Máster impartido en la FIB en el curso 2018/2019.

Se dará preferencia a estudiantes del Máster en Innovación e Investigación en Informática, en las especialidades Advanced Computing, Computer Networks & Distributed Systems y Data Science.

Becas de colaboración

ARCO is a world-renowned research group in the areas of computer architecture and compilers for future computing systems, with a long track record of publications in collaboration with industry. Current research projects focus on the following areas:

  • Cognitive computing systems
  • Graphics processors

ARCO is offering a number of scholarship grants for students of the Master in Innovation and Research in Informatics. Successful candidates will join the group to carry out their Master thesis in leading edge research projects of the group related to these topics.

We are seeking bright and highly motivated students with an interest in deepening their research background in the area of computer architecture, especially in the topics listed above.

The duration of each scholarship is for 2 years for new Master students and 1 year for students in their second year of the Master.

After completing the master, selected candidates may opt for a scholarship to pursue a PhD in the ARCO research group.

Amount of grants

The amount of the grants is 6,000 € per year.

The inLab FIB offers a limited number of the inLab Talent grants for master’s degree students at the Barcelona School of Informatics during the 2019-2020 academic year. These grants provide funding that is linked to students’ participation in R&D&i projects in collaboration with important ICT companies.

Applications

The collaboration will require 20 hours of work per week.

Amount of grants

€585.50 per month.

SANS scholarships for the CNDS specialization

The SANS (Statistical Analysis of Networks and Systems, http://sans.ac.upc.edu) is a research group interested on the capture and analysis of data from Internet of Things devices, applied to different areas, such as environmental monitoring, smart cities, and analysis of mobility patterns. More specifically, our current research focuses on how to guarantee data quality and accuracy in community sensor networks made of low cost monitoring equipment by means of machine learning techniques. Current research projects are focused on the following areas:

  • Blind calibration of sensors.
  • Machine learning techniques.
  • Analysis of Mobile traffic.
  • Internet of Things.
  • Smart Cities applications.

We are seeking bright and highly motivated students with an interest in deepening their research background in the area of computer networks and distributed systems, especially in the topics listed above. The student will be actively involved in the activities of the research group.

We look for students with a good background in Computer Science, Telecommunication and Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.

Deadline

The SANS offers 2 scholarships during the year 2019-2020. The student will collaborate with in activities in the research group related to Data Platforms for Community Sensing and statistical modeling and analysis for spatial sensor data while is following the Master Courses.

The call is open until January 31st 2020. Candidates can apply at any time

Amount of grants

The amount of the scholarship is €6,000 per year.

The Spanish Ministry of Education has launched its annual call for “collaboration grants”. These grants are intended for first-year master students who wish to carry out collabora have work with university departments in research activity or in practices related to their studies.

The UPC Research Group in Discrete, Combinatorial and Computational Geometry is willing to incorporate a student with a collaboration grant. You can find information on our research group through this link: https://dccg.upc.edu/

In order to apply for one of these grants, you must submit a collaboration project with a university department. If you are interested, we will discuss and write the project with you.

 

Requirements for applicants

  1. To be enrolled in all the courses or ECTS corresponding to the first semester of the first year of the master.
  2. To have obtained the following total grade in your bachelor studies:
  • 7,25 points if your previous studies were in Engineering or Architecture
  • 7,70 points if in Sciences or Social Sciences
  • 7,80 points if in Health Sciences
  • 8,00 points if in Arts and Humanities

The mean grade is computed as follows:

  • Honors (MH) = 10 points
  • Excellent (Sobresaliente) = 9 points
  • Remarkable (Notable) = 7,5 points
  • Pass (Aprobado) = 5,5 points
  • Fail (Suspenso o No presentado) = 2,5 punts
  • “Apto” (a Spanish grade for courses that have been waived) does not count

Grade_of_a_course = (points * course_number_of_credits) / (total_number_of_credits)
Total_grade = sum of the grades of all the courses

Deadline

Projects must be submitted for evaluation to the university by September 4. Therefore, we urge you to contact us in order to prepare all the paperwork and submit the application in time.

Amount of grants

  • Duration: 1 academic year (for a minimum of 450 hours)
  • Total amount: 2.000 €
  • These grants are compatible with the general grants from the Education Ministry
