Hay varias maneras de financiar tus estudios en la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC). La Universidad y otras entidades ofrecen becas, ayudas, becas de movilidad y préstamos.

A continuación encontrarás información sobre las becas y ayudas que se pueden solicitar en la FIB. Es imprescindible haber solicitado la admisión en el máster que corresponda para optar a cualquiera de ellas.

Becas

En memoria del Prof. Nacho Navarro, el departamento de Arquitectura de Computadores concederá 2 becas para titulados de la FIB que se matriculen en el máster MIRI en las especialidades de Redes de Computadores y Sistemas Distribuidos o Computación de Altas Prestaciones.

Total cost of enrolment for the academic year 2024-2025, including tuition fees, up to a maximum of 6,000 euros per student per academic year. This enrolment may only include subjects taken for the first time.

Requirements for applicants

  1. Obtener o estar en disposición de obtener la titulación de Grado en Ingeniería Informática (GEI) o de Grado en Ciencia e Ingeniería de Datos (GCED), en el momento de realizar la solicitud, o bien haber iniciado los estudios de Máster en el momento de la solicitud.
  2. Estar inscrito o inscrita para estudiar un máster impartido en la FIB a tiempo completo (30 ECTS por semestre) en el curso 2024-2025, o bien haber estado matriculado o matriculada en un Máster impartido en la FIB en el curso 2023-2024.

Se dará preferencia a estudiantes del Máster en Innovación e Investigación en Informática, en las especialidades Advanced Computing, Computer Networks & Distributed Systems y estudiantes de los másteres en Ciencia de Datos y Inteligencia Artificial.

La empresa Seidor ofrece 1 ayuda para los gastos de matrícula en cualquiera de los másteres impartidos en la FIB.

  • Estar estudiando a tiempo completo en un máster impartido en la FIB en el curso 2024-2025.
  • El número mínimo de créditos a matricular debe ser de 30 ECTS por cuatrimestre, salvo que se trate de los últimos créditos del programa.

Amount of grants

El importe de cada beca es de 2100 €. 

El 50% de la beca se abonará una vez hecha la matrícula del primer cuatrimestre. El 50% restante se abonará después de la matrícula del segundo cuatrimestre y condicionado al rendimiento académico obtenido en el primer cuatrimestre.
En caso de que las personas beneficiarias incumplan las bases quedarían obligadas a la devolución del importe de la beca hasta el momento meritada.

FIB Visiona and FIB allocate 7.500 € for study grants, specifically the enrolment rates for the first or second year of a master's degree taught at the FIB (MIRI, MEI and MAI). 

Applications

Those interested must read the requirements and fill in the online form (below).

Applicants must send the following documentation:

  1. Photocopy of ID card / NIE (Foreigners' Identity Number). 
  2. Curriculum Vitae.
  3. MEC (Ministry of Education) scholarship request receipt, if applicable.
  4. Cover letter stating the next: master's degree and course for which the grant is requested, presentation of the candidate, description of their situation (personal, social, economic, work, etc.) that may be relevant to obtaining the scholarship. Documentary evidence of the situations described will be required.

Finally, it must be pointed out whether any other scholarship has been requested for the master's degree at the FIB, especially in the case of having requested the MEC scholarship. In the event that the candidate has requested the MEC scholarship but eventually it is not granted, the FIB Visiona-FIB scholarship may be accepted.

Requirements for applicants of first-year grants

  1. Obtaining or being in a position to obtain a degree from the FIB at the time of application.
  2. Having applied for admission to a FIB master's degree for the 2020-2021 academic year.
  3. Being a full-time student in the master's degree in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Requirements for applicants of second-year grants

  1. Having passed the first year of the master (MIRI, MEI or MAI) during the 2019-2020 academic year.
  2. Being a full-time student in the master during the 2020-2021 academic year.

Amount of grants

The overall economic endowment for the FIB Visiona - FIB scholarships is 7,500 €. It will be allocated to the enrolment of a FIB master's degree during the academic year, distributed as it follows:

  • Each beneficiary student will obtain 50% of the academic fees paid for enrolment in the fall semester, and 50% of the academic fees paid for enrolment in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Students whose first enrolment is in the spring semester will be entitled to 50% of the academic fees for that semester.
  • The total number of scholarships will be established by the value of the amount to be awarded, which cannot globally exceed the allocated figure of  7,500 €.
  • The scholarships will be awarded according to the criteria of the selection process (see 'Selection process' section).

Accenture en el marco de Barcelona Digital Talent ofrece 5 ayudas para los gastos de matrícula de un máster impartido en la FIB. Además, las persones becadas deben realizar una estancia formativa en Accenture que también se beneficia de una compensación económica adicional.

  • Máster en Innovación e Investigación en Informática (MIRI): 1 beca
  • Máster en Inteligencia Artificial (MAI): 1 beca

Requirements for applicants

Estar estudiando a tiempo completo en un máster impartido en la FIB en el curso 2021-2022.

Realizar prácticas en Accenture en uno de los dos perfiles propuestos, según las condiciones indicadas por las prácticas académicas externas. Las prácticas también son retribuidas en iguales condiciones que cualquier convenio de cooperación educativa.

Amount of grants

El importe de cada beca es el coste de la matrícula (tasas incluidas) por curso académico. El pago lo realiza directamente la empresa Accenture, de forma cuatrimestral una vez el/la estudiante acredite todos los requisitos.

Esta beca es incompatible con el hecho de disfrutar de otra beca para realizar estudios de máster.

Becas de colaboración

ARCO is a world-renowned research group in the areas of computer architecture and compilers for future computing systems, with a long track record of publications in collaboration with industry. Current research projects focus on the following areas:

  • Cognitive computing systems
  • Graphics processors

ARCO is offering a number of scholarship grants for students of the Master in Innovation and Research in Informatics. Successful candidates will join the group to carry out their Master thesis in leading edge research projects of the group related to these topics.

We are seeking bright and highly motivated students with an interest in deepening their research background in the area of computer architecture, especially in the topics listed above.

The duration of each scholarship is for 2 years for new Master students and 1 year for students in their second year of the Master.

After completing the master, selected candidates may opt for a scholarship to pursue a PhD in the ARCO research group.

Amount of grants

The amount of the grants is 8,000 € per year.

The CBA research group has recently started a specific division in the area of AI applied to Computer Networks.

In this area, the CBA group has pioneered the use of Graph Neural Networks (GNN) in networking and developed the first GNN framework for computer networks (github.com/knowledgedefinednetworking/ignnition).

Recently, it has also organized the "Graph Neural Networking Challenge 2020" in collaboration with the ITU-T, which attracted 120 participants of 24 different countries (https://bnn.upc.edu/challenge2020).

The CBA group is offering a number of scholarships for students of the Master in Innovation and Research in Informatics (MIRI) interested in AI and/or computer networks.

The objective of the scholarship is to gather research experience on these topics and eventually develop the Master Thesis. The scholarships will be between 1 and 2 years and will be carried in the context of a large industrial project with a major multinational technology company.

The inLab FIB offers a limited number of the inLab Talent grants for master’s degree students at the Barcelona School of Informatics during the 2019-2020 academic year. These grants provide funding that is linked to students’ participation in R&D&i projects in collaboration with important ICT companies.

Applications

The collaboration will require 20 hours of work per week.

€585.50 per month.

The NaNoNetworking Center in Catalunya (N3Cat),

  1. is a multi-department research center with the ultimate goal of carrying fundamental research on communications and networking enabled by nanotechnology. Among the several domains that fall within this definition, this research center has devoted significant efforts in investigating the impact of emerging technologies in the field of chip-scale communications. As computing systems scale and become more complex and more heterogeneous, including new architectures and integration methods such as CNN accelerators or interposers in chiplet-based systems
  2. N3Cat aims to continue advancing in the research avenue of on-chip communications and networking.

N3Cat is offering several scholarships for students of the MIRI master, interested in communications, nanotechnology and/or computer architecture.

The goal of the scholarship is to obtain research experience in a vibrant, international, and dynamic research group. The scholarships cover 1 or 2 years, including the master thesis.

SANS scholarships for the CNDS specialization

The SANS (Statistical Analysis of Networks and Systems, http://sans.ac.upc.edu) is a research group interested on the capture and analysis of data from Internet of Things devices, applied to different areas, such as environmental monitoring, smart cities, and analysis of mobility patterns. More specifically, our current research focuses on how to guarantee data quality and accuracy in community sensor networks made of low cost monitoring equipment by means of machine learning techniques. Current research projects are focused on the following areas:

  • Blind calibration of sensors.
  • Machine learning techniques.
  • Analysis of Mobile traffic.
  • Internet of Things.
  • Smart Cities applications.

We are seeking bright and highly motivated students with an interest in deepening their research background in the area of computer networks and distributed systems, especially in the topics listed above. The student will be actively involved in the activities of the research group.
